This is a story all about slowing down in the midst of life’s turmoil. Even when crises are upon us, the present moment is still the safest place to be.
The story tells of a monk from a remote monastery taking the long walk to the royal palace with a message for the King. It takes months to actually gain an audience with his majesty, in which time the whole palace gets to hear about a humble monk who simply sits and waits, with patience and resolution; a monk who charms the ever-growing crowds who gather to hear him speak at the end of the day when, told for yet another time that the King is too busy, he responds:
“I am here with a message of the greatest urgency, and yet I care not how long I need to wait for an audience with the King.”
If you feel that sometimes life won’t let you rest, then this is a story for you. Take refuge in the stillness it unfolds and rediscover what truly matters.
