The protagonist in this story is a peddler who literally finds a precious jewel in the dust. He thinks some aristocrat must have dropped it there, but apparently not. What to do? Keep it? People might think him a thief!

Through several bizarre twists of circumstances, however, he discovers that this jewel was just waiting for him to discover it, and that it holds the key to his fulfilment.
